William “Bill” Gibian (b. 1946) is a recognized contemporary wildlife and decoy carver associated with Virginia’s Eastern Shore, particularly the Onancock/Parksley area. He has been active in the decoy-collecting community since at least the early 1990s.
Gibian is best known for highly detailed, naturalistic shorebirds and waterfowl, many of which were created as collectible decorative carvings rather than traditional working gunning decoys. His subjects include Yellowlegs, Godwits, Plovers, Dowitchers, Curlews, Willets, Killdeer, Red Knots, Avocets and other shorebirds.
