Full size Blackduck  decoy by Charlie "Speed" Joiner (1921-2015), Chestertown, MD.  Circa 1948. Clean, dry all original pant. Original rigging has been removed. This decoy is very early, most likely from the late 40s after Joiner returned from the war. Decoy has a few bumps and bruises from being used. A rare early decoy for the Joiner collector.

Charlie “Speed” Joiner was a renowned decoy carver from Chestertown, Maryland, celebrated for his craftsmanship and significant contributions to the Chesapeake Bay waterfowling tradition.

Joiner studied under Madison Mitchell, a prominent carver from Havre de Grace, Maryland, and was influenced by the Ward brothers of Crisfield, Maryland. This blend of mentorship and observation helped him develop a distinctive style that combined elements from both traditions with his eye for painting.
