This circa 1980s Charlie Bryan goldeneye drake is an attractive example of the work of one of Maryland's most respected modern decoy makers. It displays Bryan's clean, traditional carving style with a bold paint pattern and subtle feather detailing that made his birds popular with both hunters and collectors alike. Charlie Bryan (1920–2008) of Middle River, Maryland carved hundreds of working decoys in the Havre de Grace tradition, influenced by R. Madison Mitchell, while developing a distinctive style of his own.
