Jim Pierce is a decoy carver from Havre de Grace, Maryland, born in 1934, and active from the 1950s till today. He was influenced by legendary carver R. Madison Mitchell and learned from his uncle Sal Fulton.
Known for traditional Chesapeake Bay-style decoys, including canvasbacks, teal, ringnecks, black ducks, and even life-size swans.
His decoys often feature scratch-painted details, are stamped “JP” or signed, and were made for both hunting and collecting.
Pierce played a role in founding local decoy museums and preserving Upper Bay waterfowling heritage.
